In July 2006 at a Hillsong Conference my family and I witnessed a very powerful presentation of children in the world, living in poverty and in desperate need of help. This presentation given by Compassion Australia stirred us to the point, where my wife and I just had to do something to help so we chose to sponsor 2 children.
We would have liked to sponsor more, however at that time; I made the decision to sponsor 2 children. I made that decision with my head. However my heart said sponsor 15, and my head said - you can’t afford that, my heart said - you can do it, and my head said DON’T BE A FOOL .., have you had those conversations ..
I have learnt that making choices from your heart and not from your head, in most cases is always going to challenge you. The key is preparing yourself with the correct knowledge, faith, applied action, and a “I will not be defeated and I will not quit” type of attitude. These actions without a doubt, will not only widen your horizons, but empower you to prosper in any worthwhile project or endeavour you take on.
Why is it that your heart always wants to give, always wants to help, and always wants to see the best in others? I’ll tell you why.., because God put giving in your heart. Giving always keeps your invisible account FULL, Giving always positions you to receive TODAY, Giving brings a fillfilment money can't buy , Giving says, I’m the boss and I won’t allow MONEY to tell me what to do.
By no means have I been the perfect leader, the perfect husband or the perfect father, - boy, have I messed up in the past, but hey .. This is a new day brother, and I know a bit more today than I did yesterday. I have children of my own and the last thing I want hanging around my kids is poverty. The children from Compassion have no choice - they are born into poverty and poverty has a strong hold over them. We may not set them all free, but we can begin to break the shackles of poverty through prayer and sponsoring one child at a time.
Apart from the moral and right thing to do, there is something very fulfilling that comes from helping children in need. If you’re a family person you can expect the very best for your own kids and have all their needs meet. If you’re a single person maybe this can prepare you for being a mother or a father.
I encourage you to view this website with your heart. There is no greater investment than to invest into a child’s life.

Long before these children were conceived by there parents they were conceived in the mind of God. Their parents may not have planned them but God did. God thought of these children first. The Bible says all things were created by him and for him – (Colossians: 1:16). Its no chance or coincidence that these children are born today. They are here because God wanted them here. They are here for a reason. He decided when they were born, where they were born and how they would look; He deliberately chose their face, the colour of their skin, their hair and every other feature. All FOR HIS PURPOSE.
Sadly to say - every day thousands of children are fighting for their lives because they have nothing to eat. You and I both know there is enough money and food in the world to feed everyone.
I was bought up in a family where you share your food no one starves, no one goes hungry you give to them that need it even if it is your last piece of bread, and the thought of thousands of kids dying every day for the sake of a bag of grain is just crazy. In parts of Africa a child can be feed for just 4 cents a meal. One dollar would just about give one child a meal every day for a month. And some of us would not waste the energy of bending over to pick a dollar off the floor. (Well almost some of us)
We work with organisations first and foremost that share the love of God. You need to know this today; whether you’re 5 or 105 that God loves you and has a Glorious plan for your life. If you don’t know that yet you can begin here.
These kids are tomorrow’s leaders, not only are they fed and educated, but are taught success principles of life from God’s Word, they are given an opportunity to change their lives, their families, their communities and begin to break the cycle of poverty. With your help we are not just feeding these kids, we are teaching them to feed themselves and those around them. We are investing into their future – and in doing so YOUR FUTURE.
